Hey yall,
I hope you had a great week! I sure did.
As the weeks have passed, you may have noticed that the deep dives into lesser-known languages kicking off a new area of the world are starting to appear earlier.
I’m using the rest of this month to recalibrate as I ask you a few questions this week and to take a week off the next one.
On June 6th, TL;DR will be back. In June, we’ll be turning to mythological creatures around the world and lesser-known languages in North America!
So here come a few surveys.
Is this too long?
The original meaning of TL;DR is Too Long, Didn’t Read. While I chose to give it the meaning of Talk. Learn. Discover. Repeat., I wanted to keep the idea of making each section short.
Obviously, I failed.
I mean, look at the lesser-known language section about Mapudungun last week. It could be a full-fledged article all on its own.
As the first two sections are usually short(-ish), I’m thinking of leaving them as they are.
So, here’s my main question to you.
Knowing more about you
Back when I was using Mailchimp to send my newsletter, the sign-up form allowed me to ask you where you were from or what brought you to sign-up. Unfortunately, Substack doesn’t allow this so I’m never sure what’s bringing you here and keeping you around.
So let me know!
The next one is a bit difficult to set because you might be more than just one of them. Choose whichever you feel closest to.
For example, you might be a linguist who’s also learning a language. In this case, do you read more using your linguist's brain or are you reading more as a learner?
There’s no wrong answer—nor right!—so don’t take this seriously. I’m just a curious dude. 😁
One final question
Well, this one is more about learning about what makes you curious:
Do you have any questions for me?
Anything works. From language learning to writing, to completely unrelated stuff. Let me know and I’ll respond to each!
And one final word
Thank you.
For reading. For answering. For letting me be a part of your life through my words.
I’m incredibly grateful to have this platform to share my love of languages and I hope this transpires in each edition!
Anyway, I ramble (again).
Thanks and talk soon!
Mathias, an average polyglot
I enjoy reading of your discoveries and thoughts - My language study is self-directed, with only occasional conversations and trips, so knowing other people are learning as much as they can is encouraging.
