Notion's not the only app to roll out an a.i.-powered assistant. I'm really curious to see how they're going to be adapted by different communities and individuals. So far, I think what they're best at is working like an individualized wikipedia, only not as trustworthy (not that wikipedia is the most trustworthy option out there) with rough-drafting a close second. Trying to stay optimistic about all of it is the real challenge, though.
I found Chat-Gpt through this letter (lovely changes btw Mathias) and I must say it scares me and I am drawn to it at the same time. Yet the function of the sword depends on its wielder. I got your perspective as a linguist. What about as a creative? Do you think it will kindle the spirits of creative generally or will the people succumb to it in an inexplicable manner?
Like most new technologies, people will absolutely find creative ways to use and people will find ways to use it to aid creativity. What that will look like, I have no idea.
The times I've played with it, I found it interesting, but not something I really want to use. I value my own writing for the creative outlet it offers me and I don't want to outsource that. Having said that, can I see a time where I would use it? Absolutely. The more grunt work I can foist off on the a.i.s the better. I don't want to spend my time composing introductory emails when I can let the robot do it.
But you asked about creativity - what I know is that someone will do something that will make all of us sit up and go, "Oh, that is art." But, as I said before, I have no idea what that will look like.
Love the reformat!
